In an update to Square Enix’s official website, we get a look at new and enhanced features in Final Fantasy Tactics The Ivalice Chronicles, a newly-minted version based on the 1997 PlayStation strategy RPG classic. Most notable among them is the inclusion of a full voice cast, as highlighted in the recent story trailer, for which the script was tweaked to sound more natural for the spoken word.
Other major highlights include a fully revamped user interface in battles, more prominently displaying the turn order in a new ‘Combat Timeline’ as well as a clearer picture of what outcome may transpire in the action prediction screen. Other notable inclusions include a fast forward button, the ability to save “sets” of jobs, gear, and abilities—and more. Also, the sound novels, cut from the version of the game released outside Japan, have been restored in The Ivalice Chronicles.
Final Fantasy Tactics The Ivalice Chronicles releases September 30, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 4|5 Nintendo Switch 1|2, and Xbox Series X|S.
